For example, when you are networking and the company representative becomes interested in your skills; when a company representative calls you in response to a rsum you have sent; or when you have previously set up the telephone meeting. Your goal is to achieve a face-to-face meeting at the end of the call. 1. BE PREPARED! Keep your rsum, files, paper, and pen within easy reach of the telephone. 2. SMILE WHEN YOU ANSWER THE TELEPHONE and thank the person for calling. Ask, “Would you mind if I take a minute to close the door?” Use the time to close the door and pull out your rsum and files. Take a few deep breaths, relax and focus. 3. LISTEN TO THE WAY THE INTERVIEWER INTRODUCES HIM OR HERSELF. If she introduces herself as Ms. Jones, call her Ms. Jones until she invites you to do otherwise. 4. STAY FOCUSED. This interview is your number-one priority at this time. As a result of this meeting, you want to be invited in for a face-to-face interview. If this is a previously scheduled interview, eliminate outside distractions prior to taking the call. If the interviewer has otherwise caught you at an inconvenient time, gently say so and ask to reschedule the interview for a more convenient time. 5. STAND IN FRONT OF A MIRROR, SMILE, AND SPEAK DIRECTLY INTO THE TELEPHONE. It adds life to your voice and you will come across more powerfully. 6. ALLOW THE INTERVIEWER TO ASK QUESTIONS. Answer the questions and ask some of your own. It is essential to ask open-ended questions that demonstrate your interest. Postpone any discussion of salary or benefits. 7. AVOID ANSWERING SIMPLY YES or NO. Respond to questions with specific examples of accomplishments that demonstrate your expertise and value to the company. 8. SUMMARIZE YOUR KEY POINTS and refer back to specific examples of your contributions. Take notes! This is one interview where its okay to take notes. 9. CONFIRM YOUR INTEREST IN THE POSITION. “It sounds like an interesting opportunity Ms. Jones, and a situation where I could definitely make a contribution. When can we get together?” 10. By Rion Williams The man who can use ’social status’ things to HIS advantage instead of being in a conditioned, powerless model of ‘fitting in’ will have more power and effect in life and with women. It’s really all about the true relationships you have to the world around you. Many guys get caught up in thinking that one auto will make them successful with women but it’s not true. That’s just a social item. They’re too caught up in trying to ‘impress’ people and it backfires especially when it comes to women. You can be the guy with the bright red Lambo but is it really saying something about you or are you just trying to pretentiously ‘impress’ others? That is based on shallow and social grounding. It will fall beneath your feet because you can’t depend on others, plus it’s not naturally grounded or principally based. I have the true relational authority. I’m the focus and it’s just a part of MY lifestyle that also represents the level of quality and value that I’m personally at. It’s up to you to ‘own’ it and have true relational authority over the things in your life. You attract what you think about. Do you want to attract pretension and socially based mercenaries and manipulators into your life? I want to represent value and respectful authority, so the ‘material’ decisions I make will represent that if I can yet afford it. Why is it that broke men with crappy cars (like I used to have) can be successful with women? Because it’s natural. Her attraction response is naturally based; it’s not rooted in social pretension. She should be valuing you for who you are instead of your social status. I’m not promoting to be the ugly, average guy with a crappy car and to be proud of it. In poverty and wealth I leave money as a focus out of the relationship. I know that nature is all that matters the most. Any social status or value I have put into it’s proper place. You’re at a wedding and the couple is at the front, perhaps listening to the minister, priest, or judge speaking about the sanctity of marriage and getting ready to say their vows. Just at that moment, either the bride or the groom begins to sway, and before anyone has time to react they are on the floor. Naturally, all of you-know-what breaks loose, with the other party immediately saying (perhaps yelling) the unconscious person’s name while the wedding party mills about and someone yells for water. The bride or groom passing out during the ceremony is actually not as uncommon as you might think, and you might be surprised to discover it is the groom more often than the bride that succumbs to gravity’s pull. A combination of nerves, heat, and warm clothes are often blamed, but there is another common culprit: the person who passed out hadn’t eaten all day! What might cause someone to forget to eat? Many people do not realize, or perhaps forget how crowded the days leading up to the wedding are for the couple. There are a lot of last minute preparations that need to be taken care of, with a lot of running around to do. In addition, wedding butterflies may cause people to feel like if they eat, they will get sick. This is normal, but it is also something that must be overcome in order to avoid disaster. Holes in the stomach created by holes in the eating schedule! A lot of people don’t realize that most of a very busy day can pass without remembering to eat. Many couples will have their rehearsal dinner the day before the wedding, but after that, the couple might not eat for a full 24 hours. And when the big day arrives the next morning, many people feel too nervous to eat. The bride will also be extraordinarily busy on the morning of her wedding, and forgetting to eat is extremely easy. With pictures being taken right after the ceremony, it is unlikely that either the bride or the groom will have a moment to grab a bite until the reception dinner! Plan ahead. In order to avoid passing out or suffering one of the other symptoms of hunger on your wedding day, make sure that you have a plan so that you don’t forget to get something to eat. Grooms are not as busy the morning of the wedding as brides, and a good idea is to take out your best man, groomsmen, and your father and father-in-law for breakfast. This can be great guy’s time as well. Brides have a trickier time, because of the lengthy preparations in the busy morning. Still, you should make time to grab a muffin and some juice to get you going for the day. Couples might also want to think about having a fruit tray or meats and cheeses available for them and their bridal party at the ceremony venue. Try to avoid anything that is juicy or may leave any kind of stains on the wedding apparel for the pictures, and bring a toothbrush as well! Having butterflies in the days approaching your wedding is natural, but don’t let them trick you into not eating. The frequency of Beta waves ranges from 15-40 cycles a second. This is your normal daytime brainwave level. The next brainwave level is Alpha which you get to when you take a break. When you sit back after having solved chemistry problems, you are in Alpha state. When you are sitting in the train, watching the landscape flow by, as your thoughts pursue their own journey, you are in Alpha state. Praying or meditating also puts you in this state. Alpha brainwaves are slower, but higher in amplitude. Their frequency ranges from 9-14 cycles per second. In this state, you are relaxed; you feel a sense of calm and security. You muscles feel mellowed and you are open to suggestions. The few minutes you experience when you are totally relaxed before you fall asleep is Alpha state. Getting to the Alpha level is best for re-programming yourself. Eight-five percent of all medical problems (including overeating and weight problems) are associated with unresolved tension and stress held in the body. Getting to Alpha will definitely help you break up this unresolved tension and move you to a more progressive control of your eating. What is more, you can reprogram yourself easily when you mind is in Alpha. Begin then by taking the time to relax. 20-30 minutes a day of meditative calm would be sufficient. Develop a routine for deep breathing, during which you focus your mind on a word, sound or mantra. The meaning of the sound or word is not as important as the feeling it evokes in you as you repeat it. Once you have loosened the tension in your body, feed your mind positive images. Visualize yourself at your ideal weight. Focus on your slim and slender body, your well-shaped legs. Imagine yourself living a powerful, dynamic life. Would you be bingeing yourself to death? Make this positive visualization of your ideal self a daily practice until you find it actually easy to see yourself as lean, strong and beautiful. Next time you feel like wolfing down a whole chocolate cake, shift your mind to that slender body and well-shaped legs. When I gained the extra weight during menopause, it was pretty difficult for me to believe that I could get back to a size 4. I kept thinking: “I am over 50 and my body is different now. The hormonal changes are making it difficult for me to be what I was in my twenties.” Then I realized I was using the same excuse that I used after my pregnancy: “mothers are supposed to gain weight.” We tend to rely on commonly accepted assumptions to make our decisions and most of these assumptions are wrong. What’s more is that what you see is created by the visual cortex in the rear of your skull from a web of chemical and electrical charges in your brain. And the visual pattern created by your visual cortex is different from the pattern created by mine or someone else’s. You do not see things that are out there. You create things in here(your mind) when you see. Now this physiological fact liberates us–because now we know that we can create what we want. And if our situation is not what we want, WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! What can we do? 1. We can make a plan to build lean body mass by eating more low-fat protein (not too much animal protein as this comes with fat and calories.) Consume soy or vegetable protein: soy products, legumes. There is no doubt that protein builds the lean body mass that gives your body its youthful firmness. But you want protein without the fat in Meat Protein. Soy or Wheat protein is the best alternative. It gives you the protein without the fat! 2. We can start an exercise program that is enjoyable like tennis, skating, walking. 3. We can love ourselves and feed it healthy, nutritious foods. 4. We can stay away from people who try to sabotage our attempts to be the best we can be. We are the ones in charge of who we can become. Nothing is tying us to a stake but our own sense of limitation!
